In this edition of our 2025-26 series of blogs, we want to explore how you could celebrate the theme of feelings through cross curricular activities using SEL.
Teaching self-awareness and emotional understanding to children is the crucial first step on their SEL journey and they are learning skills that can support them throughout their whole lives. When children develop self-awareness by recognising and naming feelings in themselves, they can then learn to recognise when they feel ‘upset’ and learn what to do about it. This also supports them to recognise feelings in others and promotes empathy.
